Will You Be Having Seconds On Your Mints?

| | Comments (20)

I guess you all have seen that Shaun Inman is going to release a version two of Mint twomorro. But how are the mints holding up?

Almost two years ago I decided to pay the $40 for Mint. As did many of you. The reason for doing so was simple. Mint is a powerful, sexy and extendable package.

But will I upgrade to version two, for those exact reasons? I havn't decided yet. First off, Google Analytics has popped up and is whilst not quite as powerful (and remotely hosted), not as sexy and not the least bit extendable. But it's free.

And so it all comes down to price, for me. I probably won't pay anyting above $20 for Mint, unless it features some really, really new features. Which raises the question: Will it? And what features could there possibly be left to add to Mint? Will we be seeing Heap-ish design on it? (If we do, I'm out..!)

I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Update

An upgrade was $19, which is a whole dollar below what I said I’d be willing to pay, so I went for it. And I don’t regret it. Mint 2 is even better than Mint one, and much more easy to maintain!

So again, I wholeheartedly reccomend having a Mint.

I hate paying for Web services, because I’m under 18; therefore I need to obtain the required money from my parents, and also, there are usually very nice free alternatives out there, like Google Analytics, which you mentioned.

Maintaining a website is a nastier business for teenagers not yet adults, in my opinion. ;)

As much as I love to buy Mint (who doesn’t?), I didn’t. Two reasons - Cause I’m two young and second being that, do I really need it? There’re many substitutes out there that can ALMOST achieve the same as Mint. Until Mint really becomes unstoppable, would I then buy it.

I got two comments:

Firstly, I like Mint but I wouldn’t shell out the money for it. My web server already comes with Urchin installed and configured.

Secondly, I am really hating the color green now - greenies in all shades.

Good thing Mint is skinnable now, then.. ;)
