iPhone..?

A while ago (August 7), Apple filed a patent application for what they call:

A portable computing device capable of wireless communications, the portable computing device comprising: an enclosure that surrounds and protects the internal operational components of the portable computing device, the enclosure including a structural wall formed from a ceramic material that permits wireless communications therethrough.

Which, naturally has set the rumors going again as to the coming of an iPhone. And the patent application clearly makes the case for a cellphone/media player with a touch pad, encased in zirconia.

The remaining question is if Apple is really building it, or just pondering the idea, and how soon we’ll see it, if it is real.

My guess, however, is that Steve Jobs’ office is floating over with prototypes, but that he’s still waiting for the perfect idea to appear. What one thing the iPhone is going to do better than all others. In other words, no iPhone for christmas, and probably not untill Leopard hits the store, either...

But then again, what do I know? I like the idea, though...
