Not just Vista...
Apparently it’s not just Windows Vista who feels the need to steal a “little” from Mac OS X. This icon is the official icon from Microsoft for their ‘Comm Manager’ software for Windows Mobile 5,0. Anyone else see a slight resemblance?
I think I should additionally point out the following:
- Windows Mobile 5.0 is not supported by iSync
- Microsoft stealing from OS X is nothing new
- Apple icons being used illegally on phones is nothing new
- The icon doesn't even make sense on Windows Mobile.
Comm Manager is simply an overview over which connections (Phone, Bluetooth, WiFi, Push et cetera) you have active at any given time. Nice feature for sure, but it has little or nothing to do with what iSync does — synchronizing information between a Mac and the phone...

Well, you’re absolutely right. It has nothing to do with tech. It has to do with Microsoft not being able to come up with their own icon design, and then simply taking one from Apple…
The only mention of tech here, is that iSync (the application to which the original icon belongs) doesn’t even do the same thing as the Comm.manager from Microsoft…
