Do you live in Scandinavia?
I love this ad. Yes, I'm being sarcastic. In fact, there are so many errors in this ad; I could make a whole post about them. But I won't. I'll use a short sentence of this post to tell that Memo, the Norwegian weekly magazine of 'news' - got the number of members of parliament wrong in a large campaign recently...
Where they said there were 124 male members and 64 female members of the parliament, which equals 188, there are in fact only 169.
Now that we're done laughing at the sillier part of Norwegian media; let's get back to that silly ad that IHT has now run for some time in Scandinavia. Here's why I think it's silly:
- How old is that mac, and why is it running IE/Mac?!
- “Do you live in Scandinavia?” - This ad is run only in the Swedish-printed edition of IHT - of course I live in Scandinavia!
- The way they have repeated the place-names in the background, instead of finding enough names to fill the space...
- Remember the title - “Do you live in Scandinavia?” Well - let's read the fine print, now shall we?
Of course - I've popped off an e-mail to the IHT, and I'll get back to you all if I get any reply.
