Thoughts on yesterday's State of the Union

Now, the state of the union-adress served by US President, George W. Bush... What do I think...

Hard to describe, without using words such as 'Oh,' 'My' and 'God'... And not the good kind.. ;)

From the excerpt released in forehand of the delivery; it was expected that George W. Bush would focus mainly on oil, the economy and domestic 'kitchen-table issues', as a 'weapon of mass distraction' from the war in Iraq

This was not the case. The speech was highly focused on defending the war in Iraq; with statements such as:

“We seek an end to tyrrany”
“We love our freedom, and we will fight to keep it...”

And the ever so great

“We're on the defense in Iraw, where we have a clear plan for victory...”

And for those of you following the Google-case:

“..we will never surrender to evil!”

High points

Among the best moments, however were:

  • When Bush kissed dr. Rice on the cheek
  • When, after Bush had spoken about the wiretaps; the producer cut to Hillary Clinton, shaking her head - smiling at the arguments...
  • Hillary Clinton's response to Bush's joke about Bill turning 60...

Unfortunately, I only listened to it on the radio. I didn’t get a chance to see all those high points! In regards to the Google-case, I’m not quite sure if that actually refers to the Chinese censorship controversy, but it is still quite a clever assumption. Bush might have added it to his state of the union speech to offer his view of the action.

After all, Google refused to disclose data about what the public searches for to the US Department of Justice about a week before Google’s announcement of its self-censorship. This might have been a factor.

Fantastic idea!
