Those darn tripod-things!

| | Comments (19)

ok, this is it! Someone has got to do something about those idiotic metal plates that you use to fasten your camera to your tripod!

I just spent an hour looking for that little, 2 cm2 piece of metal!

I searched for that damn thing all over my desk, through all of my document orginizers, looked under my desk, on top of the shelf, behind every. single. book. in my bookshelf, inside the fridge, under my bed, inside the closet, on the bathroom, in my cookie-jars, in my camerabag (duh!), by the washing-machine, inside the dishwasher, in the garden, under my pillow, and on and on and on!

During this extencive search I found the following items, I had forgotten I even had:

  • A Stephen King-DVD (Don't ask.)
  • An organge iPod-sock
  • Two wetwipes
  • A pack of batteries
  • My old MuVo (from my Dell-days)
  • A blank Christmas-card
  • A very good diffusion chromofilter
  • A flash-shoe adapter
  • An old army-belt
  • Some overdue bills, I will now have to pay
  • Dust.
  • ...and under the dust: my old Dell keyboard.

...But not the tripod-adapter..! You've all been there, eh? Thought so.

Now, can anyone guess where the adapter was hiding, then? Inside one of my lensbags!

First off, that's no place for a tripod adapter... It's in the name! Lensbag... Then there is the fact that, what if I were to, as I too often do, put my lens into the lensbag, without putting the lenscap on...?!

Carelessness? No. I blame Manfrotto! Manfrotto will have to find a new patent for the adapters..!

How about this: You attach a string (read: thick metal wire) to both the adapter and the tripod, and make the wire retractable..? Of cource, this would mean, you could not remove the camera from the tripod without unscrewing the adapter...

Any other ideas?!

We live in a world of technology… You can do a lot with your cell phone. Why not add a device that made it possible to call the little metal plate and it made a sound so that you could hear it and follow the sound till you find it. Of course if you’re not near by and can’t hear it, it wouldn’t be much of a help.

Don’t think I didn’t think about it!
