New Macs & Fine Art

| | Comments (18)
This is a post full of good news. I've just come to realize that life as a white male in the most wealthy part of the world isn't half bad [insert bad conscience here].

I've been with my girlfriend, who I love very much, for over a year now (unofficially, that is), I've been admitted to the school I wanted and there are even more good news... Read on!
I've finally received my iBook from repair (had to change HD, for those of you following the saga of the broken iBook); I've also received my brand new Mac Mini. The one thing I don't like about my Mac Mini, is the fact that Apple (like on the iBook) hasn't included an audio-in-port.

This means you probably won't see JorgenArnor.com with podcasting until sometime after christmas... Oh, sweet christmas...

Furthermore, my life has been filled with work. Oh, no - not the design-related kind... Throughout the summer I've been working at a local art gallery, “Spinneriet” (The Old Spinning Mill). This has been my second year at the gallery, and, believe it or not, I still find it quite interesting.

This years exhibition contained paintings from Norwegian artist such as Kjellaug Marie Samuelsen, Eline Omland and even one of my personal favorites, Line Eklund. Eklund, by the way, currently holds another exhibition at the Broremann Bar in Stavanger; which I'm looking forward to visiting. (The exhibition at Broremann Bar is held until September 2nd)

As for the exhibition at 'my' gallery, it's all coming to an end. We close down at 4 P.M. Sunday, ending an 11-day workweek (which isn't actually legal, so don't tell anyone). Then its one weeks vacation, until school starts again...

And now for the BIG NEWS... I'm currently planning for not one, but two exhibitions of my own. Firstly, I'm already signed up for next years exhibition at the Old Spinning Mill, and additionally, I'm asked to hold an exhibition at the local juvenile support centre; for whom I've done some graph.des. work in the past.

The exhibition I'm going to hold at both locations is one called “Message In a Bottle”. The images from this exhibition was displayed on JorgenArnor.com a while back, when JorgenArnor.com was still a photo-site. During the online display time, I got quite good response, and this is the main reason for choosing this series for the exhibitions.

In fact, I've gotten quite cultural over the course of the summer. And to round it all of, I'm attending a meeting with the city council on Thursday to discuss the future cultural politics for Stavanger - the 2008 European Capital of Culture. The meeting will be at the VIP-room at Stavanger Concert Hall, and I'm really looking forward to it [free food].

Congratulations on the one-year aniversary , the new MacMini, working iBook and the exhibition plans! If you get your photos displayed count on me, unless it’s at Hjelmeland, though. I’m not traveling that far, well maybe, but not likely.

Ready for school yet? I talked to Fredrik a while back and we found out that we’re both ready to get back there. My guess is that, unless they split the classes, we’re in for a killer year!

Hang on, and enjoy the free food for all it’s worth!

They are splitting the classes, Elin is suggested to do a comeback, I’m going to hold one exhibition in Hjelmeland and one in Stavanger (it’ll be good for you to see what a real city looks like for a change…) and OF COURSE I’M READY FOR SCHOOL!!! (apart from the whole getting-up-at-six-am part…)

I’ll bring half of the congratulation over to my girlfriend, and keeping the other myself…

And another thing - I want the cafeteria at school to get an Espresso machine… I saw that the British police force has got one in theirs… That is what I’ll be fighting for if I get elected for studen council! ;)

And of course I’ll enjoy the free food - I always does… Almost as much as I do free coffee!

Why doesn’t my comment form support ?!?! :S
